Rick all aglow...
Short and sweet. Those words characterize this summary of Thursday's ride, if not the ride itself.

With several of the regulars out of town on vacation, busy getting ready for the weekend, or with broken bikes, we knew turnout would be a little low. Even so, we’ve been surprised before and were hopeful for a half-dozen or so. Not this week. Just Mort and Rick were on-hand to fly the colors through downtown and across the West Plains.

Rick picked a relatively new route combining part of the trip out to Four Lakes with a return around the backside of Medical Lake. Frankly, it could become another new favorite. Scenery was fantastic, passing Willow, Granite, Silver, Medical and West Medical Lakes, not to mention several gorgeous wetland areas. Deer were abundant, as usual, across the State hospital grounds. The weather played a nice role, too – clear, sunny skies, cooler temperatures, and the shorter days now have the sun setting everything aglow, or in dramatic shadow (sorry, it’s the photographer in us that makes us say that…)

The return route featured travel along Electric Avenue, bordering the south side of the airport, which made a nice contrast to the slower-paced twisties we’d encountered in the first half. Rick noted the fact that a turn of the century trolley line between Spokane and Medical Lake gave the street it’s name.

Beer and appetizers at the Elk afterwards, then back home. If you weren’t there (and it seems many of you weren’t), you missed a great one! dingbat
