Paul-bie
Paul tries MySceneŽ
"I'm such a Barbie!"

A lot happened on this week's ride, but Paul, coming off a tough, gravel-coated stretch of Rutter Parkway, repeating those words over and over, might be the most vivid memory of the trip.

The ride almost didn't happen at all. Rick's commute home was a wet one, and the skies looked like more was on the way. After posting “Rained Out” on the website, he dropped by the Baby Bar just to make sure nobody showed up to be left alone. But since four other riders were there, and with no rain in sight, the group pushed off for the scheduled “Little Big Spokane” loop after all.

The ride recap, categorized ala Paul:

Barbie: The route was great – mostly slow, twisty and very Barbie, i.e., perfectly suited for scootering. The mid-ride stop at Painted Rocks was Barbie, and which, we discovered, most had never visited before. The fact that Rick’s flat tire happened just beyond Painted Rocks as the group was getting back underway was a Barbie thing, which averted any high-speed crisis. The good food and conversation afterwards at O’Doherty’s was definitely Barbie, and of course, there was Paul’s new catchphrase, which he repeated even during dinner. (So Barbie!)

Anti-Barbie: Marla was nearly out of gas at the start, and a bit of time was spent trying to find a station along the route. Rick took two Bad Barbie turns during the course of the evening, leading to – luckily - only minor detours. The gravel on Rutter was very Bad Barbie, and apparently had been refreshed since Spokane Scoot weekend. Rick’s flat tire, received courtesy a tres-Bad Barbie three-inch nail, triggered a demonstration of Vespa’s famed wheel change-ability, and of Rick’s previously untouched spare tire.

Overall Rating: Barbie Princess Edition! Another great evening ride, saved at the last minute by a change in the weather. dingbat
