Some stuff should never mix.
So maybe you've seen this image of a motorcycle and car, pretty much blended together. It's been making the e-mail forwarding rounds these days.

Though scootering is usually a slower-speed, fun-first activity, we thought we'd use this opportunity to remind ourselves that at pretty much any speed, a two-wheel versus car collision is a very bad thing, and that fun-first doesn't work unless safety actually comes first.

The pictures below, according to the e-mail we got, are from a collision that occured in Sweden, where the rider, travelling at an estimated 150 mph, T-boned a car with such force that the rider and both occupants of the car were killed instantly. The wreckage was saved by police for display at a recent Stockholm Motorcycle Fair.

With the 2009 season still a few weeks off here in Spokane, we figure it's as good as time as any to share items like this. Lots of time for more cheery stuff later - especially if everyone keeps riding smart. dingbat
