Releasing our inner wolf.
How do you mix scooters and Halloween? Some clubs do costume parties, sans ride. Some, like Seattle’s Los Gatos Gordos, do creepy story tours, including celebrity graveside visits and stops at infamous murder scenes.

Nice ideas, all, and most likely our group will take a turn at a more organized event next year. But this year’s costume and ride effort – done without any special planning or incentives – was pretty amazing.

Huge kudos to everyone that put in the effort to dress up for our 2008 Halloween ride, namely:
Paul and Marla – If there’s ever another “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequel - and we hope there won’t be – but if there is, Johnny Depp seriously needs to brush up on his Jack Sparrow character by watching Paul awhile. Marla? Every bit as impressive as Paul. These two got ham-chops.
Mark – At six-foot plus, Mark’s an imposing guy – but dressed as a psycho-clown, Mark was pretty damn menacing. Low scores for difficulty, but high scores for effect. Let’s say this: Mark’s machete-wielding clown coulda cleared Harleys from the streets.

Scott and Karen – These two riffed on color. Karen’s famous pink Vino brings flamingoes to mind any day of the week, but her effort – dressing up the bike with flamingo head and tail, then wrapping herself in pink, including pink wings – was brilliant. Major points for creativity and all-out, eye-boggling effort. Scott’s black and white ET4 inspired a nice zebra costume, one that wrapped the bike in zebra-striped fur with Scott stuffed in a matching jumpsuit. Next to Karen, Scott came up a little short, but anywhere else, Scott’s fur-fest was a royal hoot.

Ben and Heather - These two brand-new members came to the ride with an emphasis on ride, but points to them both for the effort – a nice carved pumpkin strapped to the back of their GT60.

Kevin and Suzette - What suits a sidecar for Halloween? We think these two nailed it with their Little-Red Riding Hood and wolf costumes. Huge points to Kevin for wearing the riding hood dress, wig and black pumps. Equal props to Suzette for looking and acting every bit the big, bad wolf. But perhaps best of all, the two characters seemed perfectly suited to going sidecar, picnic basket included, and were a hit on the streets of Spokane.

Last year, good. This year, much, much better. Next year, best? We’ll see. For us, Halloween and scootering are a perfect match - since they're both all about fun. dingbat
