Wimpy, or Uncle Gherkin?
Our fourth, biggest and most successful version of Spokane Scoot may have been a lot of work, but it was a blast. If you were there, or helped in any way, thanks.

Numerous snapshots have already been posted in Scoot.net and elsewhere, but per tradition, we’ve pulled together some of the best images to post in our own captioned gallery. Check it out below.

We had one local TV station provide a little pre-event promotion – thanks KHQ – and Spokane’s paper of record, the Spokesman-Review, did the same. We even had a photographer from the local weekly, The Pacific Northwest Inlander, show up during Saturday’s ride. Having the media around is always great – especially this year, when gas prices were way up and Vespas seemed to be on every street corner here in Spokane.

Local sponsorship was strong this year too, led of course by Vespa of Spokane. Thanks also to gold sponsors Thomas Hammer Coffee, Lineback & Leinen CPAs, Neato Burrito & Baby Bar, South Hill Spinal Care and RPM Motorsports (Kymko). Others? Corazzo, that way-cool purveyor of scooter-specific gear, helped a bunch. Thanks too to Empire Cycles (our local Corazzo dealer), EcoTech, Scooterworks, Cycle Gear, Red Bull, Sandy Singh Massage and Northern Quest Casino. Couldn’t do it without them all!

Kevin's stylin' Stella
Special clubby thanks to Mike and Melissa for taking charge of snapshots and video, Melissa once more for the event patch artwork, Prez Mark for the bulk of the organizing and promotional work, Rick for the posters, patches, itinerary, website stuff and leading all the rides. Scott for the minimal, yet challenging gymkhana. Allison for the freelance YouTube® stuff (except for that background music, sheesh!). Jack for the danglin' weenie chomp – even though he may regret that association - and finally, Paul, for all those gin and tonics!

Unlike last year, there were no flats, breakdowns or broken mufflers. A bit of weirdness with trailing traffic took place out on the west plains, but thankfully, didn’t involve anyone on the ride. Weather was fantastic all-day, every day. Despite everything (or maybe because of), we never took an official headcount on any of the rides, but we sold 60 rally packs, up by ten from last year, and we’re pretty sure there were more than 60 bikes on the Saturday ride.

Representation? Folks from the Tri-Cities were here in force – thanks, Bombastic SC, and Guerilla SA. But in terms of numbers, our cross-border pals from 2% SC may even have matched the Tri-City turnout, and on the jackassery side of things, nobody tops 2%. For sure, no ‘Scoot is complete without our regional friends.

Again, thanks to all. Do a little remincing with the stuff below, and Iif you’re thinking waaay ahead, make plans now to take part next year – most likely September 11-13, 2009!  dingbat
