Got gloves? Get these, too!
Maybe we missed the article in our own Spokesman-Review. Maybe our local press was just too tired of the stuff, but we see the Seattle Times has news that our winter was the second-snowiest on record. It’s affirmation for us, because it sure did SEEM like it was a record-breaker.

But no doubt, scooter season has arrived. A few die-hards rode in March - ice and snow be damned - but even more of the Minion gang turned out for the first Wednesday night ride on April 2. Prez Mark writes:
“Things got off to a good start with an impressive ten-rider turnout, several of the bunch were on their first ride of the year. After filling up with a little ‘Go-Jo’ at a Valley Starbuck’s (a rare nod to our non-downtown members), Scott led a mid-length, south-county romp through a nearly snow-free landscape. Temps were down, but people were up and outside walking dogs, playing catch, or looking for signs of spring in their flowerbeds. Many also gave us points and waves as we whizzed by on our two-wheeled wonders - the whole ride just felt right.

The evening ended at the newly expanded Bennidito’s Pizza, a Minion favorite. The food was great and the company perfect. The only spoiler of the evening came from members Bob and Jeff, who gave notice they were leaving for their long-rumored, four-month, sand and sun deployment (NOT Hawaii). Both promised stories and snapshots from abroad, and the two hope to be back in time for September’s Spokane Scoot. We wish them well, and look forward to their return. Meanwhile, Kelli promised to make a few rides while Jeff’s away.

Spring’s here, so winter-shy members, we’re looking forward to seeing you soon!

April’s a busy month for rides, with four (two more) outings scheduled. As always, check the site calendar and your member e-mails for details. Our overall mileage competition has begun, and our first season-long “Ride and Seek” challenge should start by Bloomsday. dingbat
