Octoberscoot, indeed.
Sometimes a little nudge is all it takes to remind you of something worthwhile.

In this case, it was an e-mail from Steve Williams, author of Scooter in the Sticks, a great blog we feature here on the Minions site.

Steve got in touch to let us know that our link to the 'Sticks wasn't functioning, and frankly, we'd noticed it ourselves a few weeks ago but never got around to repairing it. It's been a busy summer for us all.

But after making the fix, we were reminded of how much we like Scooter in the Sticks. Steve hails from central Pennsylvania, and as he puts it:

"I'm isolated from any real urban riding. I'm now riding a new Vespa GTS250 after 18 months on the smaller LX150. I'll still have to watch for whitetail deer and groundhogs as much as SUV's and trucks. Most of my riding is solitary by choice. Each time I start the engine of the Vespa I still get a thrill not really knowing where I am going or what I am going to see."

Lucky for us, he's a great writer and at least as accomplished in photography. Pick almost any one of the images Steve posts, and you've got a great computer desktop image - at least as long as you're a Vespa fan. It probably doesn't hurt that he lives in an incredibly scenic, rural section of the country.

Steve's work is getting noticed, too. Scooter in the Sticks recently won the Motorcycle Bloggers International (MBI) 2007 Rider's Choice Award for best motorcycle or scooter blog. Pretty impressive, given the fact that it's a worldwide competition.

So it tickles us a bit more than usual when Steve complimented our group's website in his message. Aw, shucks. dingbat
