Like Woodstock, w/o acid As this is being written, it’s about 40 degrees outside, wet leaves cover many of the area roads, and it looks as if it could rain any moment now. It’s fall in Spokane, and even though we’re up for a ride whenever the weather clears, it’s time for a little retrospective on the 2007 riding season.
And if it’s OK with the bunch, this’ll be just a short shout-out about the most of the players this year; more detailed group ride articles will come later, including our official summary of this year’s very successful Spokane Scoot.
So in no particular order, here’s to:
• President Rick and spouse Charlotte for keeping the club moving, for doing all of the graphics and most of the website stuff, and for leading a bunch of the rides; • Veep Mark, for an outstanding job growing the club this year, for organizing all three out-of-town trips, rounding up prizes for this year’s ‘Scoot, underwriting the new club patches, and for leading in-town rides; • Treasurer Marla and husband Paul, for sharing one of their bikes with Rick and Charlotte early this year, for handling the treasurer stuff, for sourcing a lot of the goodies in the rally packs, hosting the ‘Scoot BBQ in their backyard, for leading rides, for the rally photographs, for the fashion tips, and (occasionally) for comic relief; • Brian, for showing up at nearly every ride, and weathering the ride back from Amerivespa; • Jeff and Kelly, for their enthusiasm and energy, and for the great Spokane Scoot photos; • Bob, for providing recon and support to Jeff and Kelly, and for helping the whole group look a bit more youthful; • Scott and Karen, for making a serious run at “Best New Member” honors by pulling trailer duty to this year’s Bacchus Raucous, fronting gas money (Rick still owes you!), and Karen, for being so darn photogenic; • Jack and Melissa, for giving Scott and Karen a run for the best new member honors, driving the U-Haul to Richland, and showing up for rides despite the fact that they live in Liberty Lake; • Pat, for making us all feel organized, for getting us “backstage” at Mountain Dome, and for the memorable apple brandy joke; • Kevin, for the enthusiasm and for the bona-fide dealer-mechanic cool-factor; • Mike, for the dealer support, tees, and for that constant sales-guy big smile; • Nanci and Alicia, for a nice showing at Spokane Scoot, and for the big pledge (and we’re gonna hold you to it) to ride more next year.
From our “promising, but not members yet" category, we’ll give a big nod to Lambretta Mark, Mario, Cat, and Mike and Melissa. Plus, a big thanks to the several other folks who showed up for the occasional ride, and/or have been in touch, pledging to ride more later this year or next year. Due to each and every one, 2007 has been a great ride! Groovy Member Poster (Popup window) |
