Would another smell as sweet?
This is freaky stuff, really.

A recent post on one of our favorite scooter blogs, 2-Stroke Buzz, listed the address of a unique product that reportedly makes the exhaust of most any motor smell like - well, like one of 19 things, from banannas, to bubble gum, to pina coladas. From the looks of the Manhattan Oil site, it's something typically sold to top-fuel dragsters and yes, funny cars. So it would certainly work with small two and four-stroke motors like those on a Vespa.

Note that one brand of two-stroke injector oil, Ipone Scoot City, has been on the market for years and supposedly endows (if that's the proper word) your bike with the smell of fresh strawberries. But since we've never encountered someone using it, we can't say whether strawberry-flavored exhaust is a good or bad thing. The French-made Ipone is a bit expensive too, at $12.00 per liter.

But with chocolate, root beer and watermelon as options, and the same $12.00 buying you enough freaky juice to scent up 20-30 gallons, the stuff from Manhattan Oil seems pretty intriguing.

But you try it first, OK?  dingbat
