When a telephone just won't do... A few days ago, our instant messaging logo lit up for someone we haven't heard from in quite awhile - co-founder Marc, who's since moved to Seattle to work for Amazon.Seems Marc hasn't been riding much since he left the 'Kan, due mainly to his otherwise nice Rally 200 gas tank continually shedding crud into the fuel line and carburetor. From the IM transcript: "...recently, after unpacking our garage enough to actually get to the scooter, I took it into Big People Scooters for a sandblasting of the gas tank, a new fuel valve and carb rebuild. They wouldn't test ride it for me because they said my clutch was dangerous, so I got that fixed too...rides like a new bike!"
Sounds like our other Mark's issues with his recent barn-find P125 (since fixed). Marc says he and Kindra have pre-registered for Amerivespa, and to look for them there. Should be fun! |

Big grins, big countryside We’ve done all-day, epic rides like the Wine Tour ride , and then we’ve done the merely long ride and coffee-type day, i.e., a short meet-up with fantastic area scenery and a little socializing afterwards. This year's Art-Fest ride was more the latter. Here’s our ride recap, presented in two short parts:
The roll-out A small but fun group, including Rick and Charlotte, Paul and Marla, Brian and Mark met at one of the usual Saturday start lines, the Rocket Bakery on Cedar and 1st Avenue downtown. The Rocket’s smoothie-like “Jet Tea” was a popular choice, since temperatures were around 85 degrees - and climbing. |

Spokane = Downtown Vespas! Some more good-natured ribbing here for two of our members. Eagle-eyed watchers of Spokane promotional media will have noticed a smart-looking couple astride two Vespa ET4s (with matching leather jackets!) in some of the Downtown Partnership's publications. Folks attending last weekend's "Live it Up!" tour of downtown condos may even have seen the two roving about, two-up, on Marla's light blue bike. But now, here's our own Paul and Marla included on Spokane's Convention and Visitor's Bureau website, along with maybe a dozen other iconic images of Spokane. You know, slideshow on front page, featuring stuff everyone associates with Spokane: image of Riverfront Park...image of the Lower Falls...image of kayaker...image of golf course...mountain biker...image of Paul and Marla on Vespas! To be fair, it's actually an older image, the same one used in the Downtown Partnership's materials (and even on their website). But when the shot makes our regional pantheon of pictures, we figure it's time to toast and roast. To see the pair on the CVB site , just hit the refresh button until you see the "Lifestyle" series come up. |
