The Big Melt

Later, snow. Spring's a'comin!
We predicted it. Just like washing the car, our trip to last weekend's Inland Northwest Motorcycle Show brought on the rain. In Spokane's case - especially this year, that means the start of the big melt, at least in town. Yea!

But other signs of spring are out there, too. Runners are out in force, getting ready for Bloomsday. The club's already held its annual membership meeting and elections, with another one slated soon to plan the 2009 ride calendar. Even the 2% SC seems to be waking up, since we're getting calls about the Inland Invasion rally again (June 19-21, we think).

Finally, webmaster Rick says he's ready to post dates for the 2009 regional rally scene soon, from faves in Seattle (Scooter Insanity), to Bellingham (Hamster Run), to our own Spokane Scoot.

There's even been a little talk about attending this year's Amerivespa, to be held in Los Gatos, California (that's San Francisco to you and me.) Should be HUGE.

Folks, the big melt is on. Feelin' warmer already. dingbat

Inland, motorcyles. Show? Go!
It's coming up again...the annual Inland Northwest Motorcycle Show, held in the convention center downtown between February 20 and the 22nd. Yup, that's this weekend, if you're checking this around the post date.

Features this year include a great antique motorcycle show by NW Classics, riding seminars, bikes of just about every brand made, fave Corona Cantina, and something called "Scooter Alley." What? A whole area dedicated to step-thrus? Not too surprising, given recent figures showing sales of scooters up by 41.5% in 2008 over 2007.

Our club was well-represented last year, and from the BBoard, several in the group plan to be there this year. Show up on your own, or coordinate among yourselves.

It's been another long winter in Spokaloo, and studies show that events like this promote snowmelt and the onset of Spring. Believe. dingbat

Grand guardians of the vault.
We'll get this out of the way fast, to help keep egos in check.

But following last month's annual meeting and elections, we're happy to announce our 2009 slate of Minion officers, namely:

Mark S. - President (back for a second, dynastic term)
Scott L. - Vice-President
Karen L. - Treasurer

Seriously, congratulations and thanks in advance to these three for volunteering time and effort to lead the group for another great riding season. An event planning session is scheduled, but it already looks like there'll be double the number of rides this year, at least one long-distance group tour is planned, the Ride & Seek challenge is back, and of course, the annual Spokane Scoot is a go for September 11-13th. (Mark yer calendars!)

Dues due? Get 'em in soon, along with your member form. Paid up or just ready to ride? Watch the club calendar. Looks like our first official ride might happen St. Patrick's day weekend.
