MSC on micro-micro cache Geocaching is a relatively new pastime, relying on GPS units to hunt and log "finds" of small containers hidden by others, often in urban areas. Sometimes, a cache may be nothing more than a notepad and pencil; other times, it may contain small trinkets that can be swapped out by the finder in exchange for a similar item. Thanks to Kevin and Suzette for coming up with the idea to combine geocaching with a weekend club ride. The two - leading about a dozen members behind their orange Stella and sidecar - had pre-selected five published local geocache sites, and together with coordinates and clues, kept everyone well-entertained. Kudos to Robin for finding two of the five stashes, and to Rick, Mark and Melissa for finding one each. Coffee at club fave The Shop to start, with beer and burgers afterwards, made it all the more enjoyable. Got photos? Add 'em to the club photo cache at Picasa™ where Rick's begun an event folder. Get in touch with him via e-mail for the login information. Read more about geocaching here.
Oh, and besides recording our visit on each logbook, one stop in particular now has a club sticker enclosed in the box. Go find it! Picasa™ Ride album (weblink)

Say it ain't so, Chispa! Orin over at Scootin' Old Skool reported this today, and damn it, it looks like it's true.
Chispa, the coolest, best-supplied, best-staffed scooter store we know of, is going out of business.
If you haven't been to Chispa in Bellingham, you haven't seen how - in all things that matter to scooterists, anyway - a scooter shop should be run. With scooter sales doing OK nationally - far better than motorcycles, at any rate - we're a bit shocked they're going under.
Now, we'd be remiss if we didn't tell you: if you're considering buying a new Genuine Buddy, Stella or Vespa, better jump in the car and head over there, because apparently, the store is closing out everything. Screaming deals on some mighty fine stock. But our biggest word is this - if Chispa can go, just about any dealer can - even your local, well-loved dealership.
Chispa gone? Bummer. Your local dealer (or our own Vespa of Spokane) gone? Even worse. So visit your local. Love 'em, support 'em. Tough times mean we gotta stick together. |

Later, snow. Spring's a'comin! We predicted it. Just like washing the car, our trip to last weekend's Inland Northwest Motorcycle Show brought on the rain. In Spokane's case - especially this year, that means the start of the big melt, at least in town. Yea!But other signs of spring are out there, too. Runners are out in force, getting ready for Bloomsday. The club's already held its annual membership meeting and elections, with another one slated soon to plan the 2009 ride calendar. Even the 2% SC seems to be waking up, since we're getting calls about the Inland Invasion rally again (June 19-21, we think). Finally, webmaster Rick says he's ready to post dates for the 2009 regional rally scene soon, from faves in Seattle (Scooter Insanity), to Bellingham (Hamster Run), to our own Spokane Scoot. There's even been a little talk about attending this year's Amerivespa, to be held in Los Gatos, California (that's San Francisco to you and me.) Should be HUGE. Folks, the big melt is on. Feelin' warmer already.
