Seattle's Orin O'Neill Here in Spokane, we're closing in on the record for number of snow days. Memories of clear roads and balmy weather are getting a little hazy by now.Thank goodness there's folks out there still riding – and blogging about it – to keep our scooter energies up. So much the better when the blog originates from our region, and when we've met the writer/rider in question. Of course, we're talking about Seattle's own Orin O'Neill, feature author of Scootin' Old Skool. When it's 25 degrees here in Spokane, it's usually something like 40 degrees in Seattle, so he's working with a few more riding days over there. Plus, when Seattle's trademark drizzle sets in, Orin often jumps to another interest of ours, microcars like the Smart-car, or more recently, something called a Tata Nano. At Orin's invitation, and to make visits to his site a little easier for our visitors, we've added SOS to our own Minion Feed Zone. Be sure and check it out. Word is, we might see Orin and some friends at this year's Spokane Scoot. Hope so – he's a nice guy, and it'll be fun to see some of Spokane's scenery featured in one of the region's more high-profile scoot blogs! |

Two-stroke Santa Ride a scooter? You're as good as family. What do we wish family and friends on occasion of the holiday season? All the best through this year and next.
When Paul and Marla get a wind-up, musical, working-headlight, way-cool Christmas ornament for their tree, what do we do? We film it and post it for our fellow Minions and scooter pals to enjoy. (Note: the audio track's a little weak, but stick around for the horn at the end.)
Happy Holidays, from the Minions Scooter Club! Vespa Ornament - (QuckTime™ movie)

Like an Allstate, but no motor Snow is falling outside as this is being written. Scootering in Spokane is on haitus, at least until the roads clear, or they invent studded scooter tires. In the meantime, we're gonna make note of a few other types of transportation, examples of which we've seen recently and for differing reasons, have caught our eye. - Lambretta Mark (not Cap'n Mark) in our group sent along a picture recently of a new addition to his stable - a sweet 1963 Sears Flightliner bicycle. Mark's already got the nicest Lambretta we've ever seen, and reportedly has a Mitsubishi Pigeon that's just as nice. We heard him talk about an interest in cruiser bikes last summer, but never knew how serious he was until now!
- Not that it's in the same league as Mark's pedaler, but Rick recently snagged a bike of his own - and since we're showing bicycles on a scooter site, we thought we'd toss it into the mix. Obviously, this one's about fitness and speed, not classic, 60's styling.
- Finally, Old Skool Orin has been digging up photos of some really exciting micro-cars recently, which we really love - but as umMER-kins, can only dream about. Still, it's great eye candy.
We're suckers for wheels. A classic bicycle? A new BMW Isetta or VW Microbus...very, very nice. Old Skool story - VW (weblink) Old Scool story - BMW (weblink) Mark's Flightliner (Pop-up window) Rick's Modena (Pop-up window)
