Delegates en route
Perhaps it had something to do with Paul's having won a new Fireball Stella at Amerivespa Seattle 2007, but Paul and Jonna were the only ones from our gang to commit to this year's Amerivespa in Los Gatos, California.

The two took off a few days in advance of the event, mentioning something about taking the scenic route along the coast, including a day or two in Portland. We received a few photos from them in advance - mostly with Vespa of Portland's huge stock of Vespas and Stellas in the background. Things must've picked up after that, because we didn't hear much from either of the two until the last day of the rally.

Since then, the thousands (literally) of photos Paul took have been whittled down to 300 or so images, and cover everything from the trip down, to a quick tour of San Francisco, to the Amerivespa event itself. Check out the photos in our gallery post below, or, if you're a club member, go to the Picasa™ link found on the secure bulletin board area to post those rude comments we know you're dying to make.

Several bikes were raffled off, but none found their way into either Paul or Jonna's hands this time. But almost as nice, Jonna won second prize in the "Best Modern Smallframe" category for her Hello Kitty-decorated LX!

Thanks to both for making the trip and for representing the club. Looks like a great time, and as we'd hoped, the photos make us wish we'd been there. Next year? Doubtful, but tempting...it's in San Antonio, Texas! dingbat

Is that you, Wall-E?
It's June. Guess who's been texting us about which upcoming rally?

If you thought "Two-percent Bryce," and "Inland Invasion," you're absolutely correct.

Though it's been posted on the Club events calendar for several weeks now, it's well worth spotlighting the 2% gang's Inland Invasion, our neighboring club's annual weekend party/scooterthon. This year - like last year and the year before - it'll be held at beautiful Farragut State Park, just north of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Well worth the trip, even for the scenery alone.

But Inland Invasion goers know it ain't about the lake, it's about beer (free), camping (cheap), lots o' food, scooter gymkhana, the club's infamous Dairy Challenge (don't ask), and um...more beer.

June 26th - 28th. Several Minions will be there. For more, see the club's MySpace page, (seems they've let their website go idle) or download the event flyer below.

From Bryce's SMS string: "Wait until you see our '64 v90 smallframe raffle bike...people that don't show up and buy tickets are dummmmmbb." dingbat

Fonda? Honda? Vespa!
Wow. Our club's in the press today!

For no particular reason (well, it helps having members with contacts), the Minions were the focus of a nice article in today's Spokesman-Review newspaper - the splash page of the "Today" section, no less. Pretty cool.

The article, written by correspondent Jennifer Larue, features quotes from several clubbies, including Prez Mark, Veep Scott, Brian, Robin, Rick, Jonna, Michael and Melissa. Even club sponsor Rick Manfred of Vespa of Spokane got a nice mention.

Jennifer, by the way, says she's been thinking about getting a bike for herself. Not sure whether she's more - or less - inclined to do so after speaking with our bunch.

But no need to ramble on about the goods, not when you can check out the article for yourself at the link below. Plus, figure Mark's bought out most of Spokane Valley stock of papers already, so he'll no doubt have copies to share later on - priced to sell, we imagine.

Thanks, Spokesman, and thanks to the clubbies that took time out to chat with Jennifer and show up for the photo shoot! dingbat
